Destruction of an M113 Armored Personnel Carrier
Russia's Ministry of Defense reported that units of the Zapad (West) troop grouping destroyed an American M113 armored personnel carrier in the special military operation zone. According to the ministry, the vehicle had earlier earned the nickname 'aluminum coffin' due to insufficient crew protection. This was reported by Life.ru.
Where and against which forces the strikes were carried out
According to the Ministry of Defense, Russian troops struck positions of two mechanized brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a marine brigade, and territorial defense units. The fighting took place in the areas of the settlements of Studenok and Smorodkovka in Kharkiv region, as well as Bogorodichnoye and Krymki in the Donetsk People's Republic. As a result, Ukrainian forces, according to the ministry, lost two armored combat vehicles, including the aforementioned M113, as well as 12 vehicles and one field artillery piece.
About the vehicle itself
The M113 armored personnel carrier was adopted for service in 1960 and is intended primarily for transporting troops. The vehicle has an aluminum armored hull, but its protection is limited, especially against modern anti-tank weapons.
Reconnaissance and artillery teamwork in the Kharkiv direction
Earlier, according to the drone manufacturer, Russian troops demonstrated the joint operation of the ZALA Z-16 reconnaissance drone and the Tornado-S multiple launch rocket system in the Kharkiv direction. The drone detected a large ammunition depot of the Ukrainian Armed Forces: its location was revealed by military trucks regularly pulling up to the hangar. The scouts passed the coordinates to the artillerymen, after which the Tornado-S crew struck the facility.
