The key facts
- The Russian Defense Ministry reported three targets hit on the night of November 5
- Earlier, on November 3–4, strikes on thermal power plants and substations in several regions were reported
- Data on the strikes is provided only according to the Russian military ministry
What the Defense Ministry reported
On the night of November 5, Russian drones, according to the Russian Defense Ministry, struck three targets: a logistics terminal of the Nova Poshta company in the settlement of Novyi Korotych in Kharkiv region, a 330 kV electrical substation in Dnipropetrovsk region, and a dry cargo ship carrying military supplies for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Black Sea — 52 km southwest of Odesa. The ministry specified that the strikes targeted infrastructure used in the interests of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This was reported by Life.ru and Gazeta.Ru, the latter quoting a statement from the ministry's Telegram channel; the press service also published a message in the messenger Max.
Context of previous days
The November 5 statement continues a series of reports by the military ministry about strikes on energy and transport infrastructure. According to the Defense Ministry's data from November 4, drones hit the 750 kV Nalyvaikivka substation and the 110 kV Chyzhovka facility in Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions, as well as a dry cargo ship eight kilometers southwest of Odesa. On November 3, the ministry reported the destruction of four thermal power plants in Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions; the same day, according to Gazeta.Ru, the Kryvyi Rih thermal power plant with a capacity of 2,800 MW and the Pridniprovsk thermal power plant with a capacity of 1,765 MW in Dnipropetrovsk region were named, and Geran drone operators attacked four locomotives of the Ukrainian Armed Forces — near Sumy, in Komsomolske in Kharkiv region, and in Dnipro.
Data limitations
All of the listed facts — the destruction of specific targets, the characteristics of the vessel and substations — come exclusively from the Russian military ministry. The publications contain no confirmations or denials from the Ukrainian side, nor any data on the consequences of the strikes for power supply. Separately, Gazeta.Ru, citing Russian security officials, reported the elimination of Roman Rudenko, an SBU lieutenant colonel, in Dnipropetrovsk region; this information also comes from one side only.
