Statement by the head of Rosatom
Rosatom Director General Alexei Likhachev stated, that drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine kept medics away for six hours from those injured in a strike in Enerhodar, Zaporizhzhia region. According to him, the incident took place the day before: an employee of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant was driving in a car with her husband when a Ukrainian drone struck them, and the two sustained injuries incompatible with life.
The essence of the accusation and the context
“For another six hours after that, the drones would not let medics approach the hit car. <...> Intimidation of residents is being carried out by such absolutely inhumane methods as well,” TASS quotes Likhachev as saying. He added that Rosatom will continue to support the ZNPP employees, their families and the residents of Enerhodar. The statement adds to previously reported figures: on October 22, ZNPP director Yuri Chernichuk said that about 50 plant employees had been wounded to varying degrees by attacks by Ukrainian forces since the escalation. Earlier, IAEA head Rafael Grossi warned of a threat to nuclear safety at the site. The reports of the strike and the blocking of medics come from the Russian side; there is no independent confirmation of these details in available publications.
