Case of former chief accountant of ship repair companies sent to court
In Sevastopol, the investigation into the case of a 72-year-old chief accountant of two ship repair companies, whom investigators accuse of embezzling almost five million rubles, has been completed. This was reported by the city prosecutor's office and the MVD directorate; after the indictment was approved, the case materials were sent to the Gagarinsky District Court of Sevastopol, which will decide the question of guilt and punishment (Life.ru).
How, according to the investigation, the transfers were made
According to the investigation, in August 2025 the accountant, who had access to the organizations' bank accounts, electronic keys and signatures, prepared several payment orders in her own name — ostensibly as salary and compensation for unused vacation, although there were no legal grounds for such payments. The bank executed the orders, and the money of the two companies went to an account under her control.
How the scheme was uncovered and what happened next
The scheme came to light when the employee submitted her resignation due to retirement: company managers noticed suspicious transfers and contacted the police. The investigation was conducted by the economic security and anti-corruption unit. The woman was charged with embezzlement of funds using her official position on an especially large scale; during the investigation she was under a travel ban. During the investigation, the former chief accountant fully compensated the companies for the damage caused — the court may take this circumstance into account when determining the punishment, although the final decision rests with the court.
