The key facts

  • Kovalchuk has listed his Fisher Island apartment for $14.5 million — $6 million more than the January 2022 purchase price ($8.5 million).
  • The apartment spans 336 square meters on the eighth floor of a 2019 complex, with three bedrooms, a private elevator, and ocean views.
  • According to SHOT, the listing was previously published and removed; part of the proceeds may go toward paying off the mortgage (~$3.12 million).

A repeat sale next door to Hollywood stars

Russian hockey player Ilya Kovalchuk has put his apartment in an upscale residential complex on the private Fisher Island in Miami Beach up for sale again. He expects to get $14.5 million for the apartment — more than a billion rubles. According to SHOT, the home was already listed for sale before, but the listing was later removed, and now the property is available for purchase again. Next door are properties belonging to actress Julia Roberts and TV host Oprah Winfrey.

What is known about the apartment

The 336-square-meter apartment occupies the eighth floor of a residential complex built in 2019. The unit has three bedrooms, three full bathrooms, and an additional guest powder room. Features include a private elevator, panoramic ocean-view windows, and two parking spaces. Residents of the complex have access to a pool, fitness club, tennis courts, and a golf course. Fisher Island itself is known for its gated grounds and expensive real estate and is considered one of the most prestigious areas of Miami Beach.

Gain compared to the purchase price

Kovalchuk bought the apartment together with his wife Nicole Ambrazaitis in January 2022 for approximately $8.5 million — about 688 million rubles at the exchange rate at the time of the deal. For the purchase, he took out a mortgage from an American bank for approximately $3.12 million. Thus, the asking price is $6 million above the original cost; if the sale goes through, part of the proceeds may go toward paying off the remaining loan.
