The key facts
- An SD-250 aerial bomb was found on a beach near the village of Pavlovo outside Baltiysk and destroyed on the spot
- Since the beginning of 2026, 19,762 explosive objects have been neutralized in the Kaliningrad region, including 95 aerial bombs
The bomb was found on a beach and destroyed on the spot
Emergency Ministry (EMERCOM) pyrotechnicians destroyed a German aerial bomb from World War II found on the shore of the Baltic Sea. The munition was discovered near the village of Pavlovo outside Baltiysk, as reported by the regional EMERCOM directorate. Specialists from the search and rescue unit examined the find and determined it was an SD-250 aerial bomb. The district civil defense and emergency service decided to destroy the munition at the site where it was found.
The scale of the problem in the region
This is not an isolated find: according to EMERCOM, since the beginning of 2026, 19,762 explosive objects from the war years have been found and destroyed in the Kaliningrad region, including 95 aerial bombs. This explains the practice standard for the region — munitions are destroyed directly where they are discovered, without transportation. Separately, Life.ru previously reported the neutralization of a high-explosive aerial munition from the Great Patriotic War at a construction site in St. Petersburg — that is a different incident in a different region.
