Explosion in a multi-story building

On November 5, a household gas explosion occurred in a multi-story residential building in the Uchtepa district of Tashkent. According to available information, one person was injured — a man about 60 years old who, as reported, suffered burns to 35% of his body. Kun.uz reported this.

Response at the scene and restrictions on the press

After the incident, the area was cordoned off and relevant services worked at the scene. The Tashkent city department of the State Security Service said the causes of the incident are being investigated. A Kun.uz correspondent who arrived at the scene was refused permission to film at close range: one of the responsible officials told journalists that comments would be given by the press service, while the press secretary of the district mayor explained that filming was not allowed, citing the busy schedule of local staff. A witness to the incident said that after the explosion, neighbors rushed to help and began prying open doors with a crowbar and a shovel, fearing that someone was inside the apartment.

A reminder about safety

The head of the household (uy sardori) urged residents to check household gas appliances and turn them off after use, noting that, in his opinion, such tragedies happen due to carelessness, and expressed relief that no one died. Meanwhile, the exact cause of the explosion remains undetermined at this time — the investigation is ongoing.
