PSG and Real Madrid remain unbeaten, Como surprise

The fourth round of the 2026/27 Champions League league phase is complete, and PSG still top the table — the Parisians have 12 points from four straight wins and the best goal difference of +15. Real Madrid have the same number of points, having beaten AEK 3:3... or rather 3:2 thanks to a Federico Valverde goal in stoppage time, but on goal difference (+6 versus +15) they trail the leader. Main results of the round

The highest-scoring match of the round was Como's 9:1 victory over Lens. The Italian club, playing at this stage of the competition for the first time, has won three of its four matches, has already scored 19 goals and sits in fourth place. Liverpool lost for the first time this campaign — 2:3 to Fenerbahce — though they remain in the top 8. Other results of the round: Barcelona — Aston Villa 3:0, Atletico — Bayern 0:2, Feyenoord — Inter 0:3, Leipzig — Manchester City 2:3, Slavia — Arsenal 1:2, Manchester United — Roma 3:2, Villarreal — PSG 0:6, Porto — Napoli 4:1, Viking — Sabah 4:1, PSV — Club Brugge 1:2, Borussia Dortmund — Real Betis 2:1, Galatasaray — Stuttgart 2:0, Shakhtar — Sporting 0:1, LASK — Slovan 4:0, Bodo/Glimt — Lille 0:0.

Top 8 and the battle for the play-offs

After four rounds, the direct qualification spots for the round of 16 are occupied by PSG, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Como, Barcelona, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Liverpool. In the play-off zone (9th–24th places) are Club Brugge, Sporting, Real Betis, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern, Stuttgart, Inter, LASK, Manchester United, Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, Roma, Shakhtar, Viking, Atletico and PSV. The gaps are minimal: the teams from 9th to 12th place have nine points each, while PSV, at the bottom of this zone, have collected four. At the bottom of the table are Slovan (0 points), Lille and Slavia (one point each). In the event of equal points, up to the seventh round UEFA first takes goal difference into account, then the number of goals scored.

What to keep in mind about the interim table

The standings after four rounds are interim: four more rounds remain, and being in the top 8 now does not guarantee direct qualification for the round of 16, just as a position in the lower part of the table does not mean elimination. Under the current format, the teams finishing 1st to 8th after eight rounds advance directly to the round of 16, clubs from 9th to 24th play a play-off round, and those in 25th to 36th place end their European season — there is no drop into the Europa League for them. Each of the 36 participants plays eight matches against eight different opponents — four at home and four away.

Calendar until the end of the league phase

Matchday 5 fixtures will take place on 24 and 25 November 2026: in particular, Arsenal will host Borussia Dortmund, Como will face AEK, Real Madrid will play PSV, Manchester City will take on Napoli, and PSG will meet Roma. Further on: matchday 6 — 8–9 December, matchday 7 — 19–20 January 2027, matchday 8 — 27 January, when all 36 teams will play on the same day. The play-off round is scheduled for 16–17 and 23–24 February, the round of 16 for 9–10 and 16–17 March, the quarter-finals for 6–7 and 13–14 April, and the semi-finals for 27–28 April and 4–5 May. The final will be held on 5 June 2027 in Madrid at the Metropolitano stadium — for this venue it will be the second Champions League final after 2019, when Liverpool beat Tottenham 2:0.
