The key facts
- The TB2, carrying 16 Skydagger FPV drones, released two over a test range in Edirne, and both hit their targets
- After launch, the TB2 acted as an airborne communications relay for the FPV drone operators
- According to Baykar, export agreements for the TB2 have been signed with 36 countries, and the company's exports reached $2.2 billion in 2025
Test in Edirne
Turkish company Baykar announced that during flight tests in the north-west of the country, strike drones launched from a Bayraktar TB2 hit their targets. Anadolu reports this. The test was conducted using the Keshan flight training and testing center in Edirne province.
How it worked
The TB2 took off carrying 16 FPV drones developed by Skydagger and released two of them over the test zone. After launch, the TB2 itself served as an airborne communications relay: operators used this channel to guide the small drones onto their targets. FPV drones give the operator a 'pilot's-eye' view through an onboard camera.
Context: what the TB2 can already do
The new test expands the strike capabilities of a vehicle that entered service with the Turkish armed forces in 2014 and was first armed in 2015. In addition to reconnaissance and surveillance, the TB2 can designate targets with its own laser and carry up to four guided munitions, including the Roketsan-made MAM-L and MAM-C. According to Baykar, the TB2 fleet surpassed 1 million flight hours in 2024, ten years after entering service.
Export figures
Baykar also provided export statistics: agreements for the TB2 have been signed with 36 countries, and for the Akinci combat drone with 16, totaling 39 countries across the two programs. The company's exports reached a record $2.2 billion in 2025, and foreign sales have accounted for about 90% of revenue in recent years.
