What happened on the highway
The incident occurred on the Maisky — Novo-Ivanovskaya highway in Kabardino-Balkaria. As reported by the press service of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs, participants of a wedding convoy staged dangerous races: the cars drove three abreast, and the drivers of two vehicles repeatedly collided while trying to push each other off the road and crossed into the oncoming lane. The ministry emphasized that such maneuvers posed a real threat to other road users. The police published a video of the incident in their community.
Who will answer and for what
Officers of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Maisky district identified the offenders — according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, they are young men from the Urvan district aged 19 to 28. A total of 39 administrative protocols were drawn up against seven drivers. The grounds included: crossing into the oncoming lane, driving after license revocation, and failure to pay previously imposed fines on time. Two cars were sent to an impound lot, and the participants of the trip were taken to a police station for a preventive talk.
Context
This is not the first such case reported by Life.ru: in early October in Nizhny Novgorod, participants of a wedding convoy in Mercedes-Benz G-Class vehicles performed abrupt lane changes on Gagarin Avenue and blocked the passage of a police car; their actions were caught on video and sparked discussion on social media. The Kabardino-Balkarian incident differs in its consequences: there, the matter escalated to mass issuance of protocols, including prosecution of drivers who got behind the wheel after having their licenses revoked.
