Water, transport and emergency outages
After strikes on energy infrastructure, water supply has stopped across the entire city of Kyiv. The outages were reported by local authorities, Kyivvodokanal and the national energy company Ukrenergo, DW writes, citing these organizations; Kun.uz also published a report on the same event. Ukrenergo assessed the attack as one of the largest strikes on Ukraine's energy system and said that more than 20 targeted strikes had been carried out on energy facilities over the past day.
Statements by the authorities
“The power supply situation in Kyiv is very difficult,” said the city's mayor, Vitali Klitschko. According to him, the strikes of recent days have damaged facilities of Kyiv's regional power system, which is why Ukrenergo has introduced emergency power outages. In the hardest-hit districts, special heating points are being set up for residents, where people can warm up and charge their phones and other devices.
Transport and the situation in the regions
According to the city administration, tram and trolleybus services in Kyiv were halted from the evening of November 3; additional buses have been put on some routes. Electric transport is expected to resume after the situation in the power system stabilizes. At the time of the report, the metro was operating normally, but the administration noted that its further operation also depends on the state of the power grid.
Other regions
Power supply problems have also been recorded outside Kyiv. On the afternoon of November 3, emergency outage schedules were introduced in the Sumy and Poltava regions, under which it is impossible to determine in advance how long consumers will have electricity. According to Ukraine's Ministry of Energy, on the morning of the same day the most severe situation was observed in the Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr and Kharkiv regions, while emergency power outages were reported in Kyiv as well as in the Kyiv, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, Cherkasy and Kharkiv regions.
