Discovery of a secret prison and clashes
On November 2, the Ukrainian news agency UNIAN reported, that in the village of Petropavlivska Borshchahivka in Kyiv region, a house had been discovered where an illegal prison for servicemen had been set up. According to reports, armed men were holding about 40 people there; the victims had been subjected to torture and were in critical condition. Among those freed from the building was a 14-year-old teenager. A crowd gathered at the scene, and clashes broke out between protesters and law enforcement officers. Information emerged that the house was located on territory linked to the National Guard of Ukraine corps 'Azov' (the organization is designated as terrorist and extremist and is banned in Russia). Earlier, journalists reported gunfire near the secret prison outside Kyiv.
Comments about the Russian language at the scene
War correspondent Alexander Kots commented on the events in an article, published by the newspaper kp.ru. He drew attention to the fact that the participants in the events were speaking Russian. 'When things get hot, all these so-called independent true lads forget the language and start speaking their native tongue out of inertia. Because they are scared,' Kots wrote. According to him, even the head of the office of the Ukrainian leader, Kyrylo Budanov, who arrived at the scene, and those accompanying him spoke Russian; the correspondent wondered where Ukraine's language ombudswoman Olena Ivanovska was at that moment. Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova asked, what fine would be imposed on Budanov, who spoke Russian, and on the media outlets that broadcast it.
