Emergency blackouts and water supply disruptions

Emergency power outages have been introduced in Kyiv and the Kyiv region due to damage to facilities of the Kyiv regional energy hub. This was reported by the capital's mayor Vitali Klitschko, who described the electricity supply situation as extremely difficult. According to him, the power supply disruptions led to interruptions in water supply and electric transport services: a number of trolleybus routes and the funicular were temporarily suspended.

Scale of the problem and restoration

The energy company DTEK confirmed the introduction of emergency blackouts in Kyiv, the Kyiv region and the Dnipropetrovsk region on the order of Ukrenergo. Under this regime, the previously established hourly outage schedules do not apply, so the exact time of power restoration for individual consumers is not known in advance. Klitschko also noted that the situation is complicated by damage to generation facilities and power transmission networks across Ukraine, and the disruptions affect not only the capital but also other regions.

Water supply

Kyivvodokanal reported the same day that Kyiv's water supply had been completely shut off due to an accident in the power grid — according to the utility, there was no water in all districts of the capital. Specialists from the water utility and energy companies began restoring electricity supply to water and sewage infrastructure facilities, but the exact timing of the water supply resumption was not initially announced. The publications also do not indicate the timeframe for the full normalization of electricity supply.
