The release of the final recording

Bonnie Tyler's final studio recording — the song Love, Light and Peace — will be released as a Christmas single on 13 November 2026. BBC Wales reported citing the singer's husband, Robert Sullivan, with whom Tyler had lived for 50 years. He called the past year a 'heart-breaking' one and said he misses her 'every single day'. According to him, 'Gaynor never stopped working'; she loved singing and her fans and 'poured her whole heart into these songs'.

The circumstances of the recording and her career

Tyler, born Gaynor Hopkins, died in July 2026 at the age of 75 after emergency intestinal surgery in Portugal. After her last contract expired, she released songs independently: Yes I Can came out on 1 January 2025, and Only Love in March 2026, shortly before she fell ill. Between concerts she recorded new material in David Mackay's studio — the only break in her work, according to Sullivan, was during the pandemic, when she continued giving interviews over Zoom.

The circle of songwriters and the cancelled tour

Love, Light and Peace was written by Chrissie Hammond and Terry Britten, who is being inducted into the 2026 Songwriters Hall of Fame; the producers were Britten and Mackay, who had worked with Tyler early in her career. Britten first collaborated with her in 1977 as a guitarist on her debut album The World Starts Tonight — nearly 50 years later, he returned as the writer and producer of her final recording. In November, Tyler was due to be in the middle of her Jubilee Tour across Europe, marking the 50th anniversary of Lost in France, the song with which she first entered the UK Singles Chart in 1976.

Farewell in Swansea

In August, Swansea hosted a farewell ceremony for the singer at Swansea Minster,; fans lined the streets. Tyler was born in a council house in Neath, and she was discovered at a Swansea club by scout Roger Bell; her raspy voice earned her the nickname 'the female Rod Stewart'.
