Possible move to the UMA
Deputy Chairman of the Government of Altai Krai Denis Gubin may soon leave his post and move to the presidential directorate for monitoring and analysis of social processes (UMA). This is reported by Gazeta.Ru citing a publication by Vedomosti, which relies on three sources close to the presidential administration, the region, and the krai's authorities. A source close to the presidential administration rates the likelihood of such a move as high.
Career path and connections
Gubin has held the post of deputy premier of the krai since February 2019. This is not his first experience working in the presidential administration: from 2009 to 2012 he was deputy head of the department for work with the regions of the Siberian and Far Eastern Federal Districts, and in 2014–2016 he served as deputy director of FSUE National Operator for Radioactive Waste Management, part of Rosatom. As Vedomostinotes, during the period when Gubin worked at Rosatom, the directorate for work with the regions and the post of adviser to the state corporation's director general were held by Alexander Kharichev, who now heads the UMA — the tafs.uz editorial team notes this as a possible explanation for why sources link the official's return specifically to this directorate.
The official's position
Denis Gubin himself told Vedomosti that he has no information about a possible transfer. Thus, reports of the personnel decision remain at the level of anonymous sources and have not been officially confirmed by either the presidential administration or the krai's government.
