Monthly total and peak days
Russian air defense forces shot down 27,988 Ukrainian drones in October, Life.ru reports, citing data from the Russian Defense Ministry. The highest daily figure fell on October 6, when the ministry reported destroying 1,750 drones. The military credited themselves with 1,425 downed drones each on October 14 and 29, and 1,297 and 1,263 respectively on October 24 and 30. Thus, over the five listed days a total of 7,160 drones were claimed destroyed, which amounts to almost 26% of the overall monthly number. The unevenness of these reports is noteworthy: a significant portion of the monthly result is concentrated in just a few days, indicating sharp peaks in attack intensity, although the publication does not explain the reasons for such unevenness.
Events of October 31
The head of Kaluga Region, Vladislav Shapsha, reported that during the day of October 31 air defense forces destroyed five Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles. The targets were shot down in the Zhukovo and Peremyshl municipal districts, as well as on the outskirts of Obninsk. In addition, on November 1 a drone alert was declared in Istra, in the Moscow Region. It is worth noting separately that, judging by the publication, the October 31 figure is not included in the cited monthly total — the report covers the period through October 30 inclusive.
