A record September for hazelnut deliveries

Deliveries of hazelnuts from Georgia to Russia in September 2026 reached 73.1 tonnes — a record for a single month. TASS reports this citing data from Georgia's National Statistics Service; the story was prepared by Gazeta.Ru. In monetary terms, September exports amounted to $291 thousand, and in volume they were 2.8 times higher than the September 2025 result.

Dynamics over nine months

From January to September 2026, Georgia sold Russia 209.2 tonnes of hazelnuts worth $715.3 thousand. That is 2.4 times more than in the first nine months of 2025, according to the statistics agency's calculations. Thus, growth is recorded both in monthly and cumulative terms: September was not only a record month but also widened the lead over last year's figures for the period as a whole.

Context of bilateral trade

Earlier, the same Gazeta.Ru, citing statistics, reported growth in reciprocal deliveries as well: in January–August 2026, Georgia imported skincare and decorative cosmetics from Russia worth $3.2 million — 33% more than in the same period of 2025, and August was the best month since May ($401 thousand, up 11% from July and up 20% year on year). It was also previously noted that Russian imports of Georgian apples had increased. These data show that the growth in hazelnut deliveries is taking place against the backdrop of a revival in trade turnover in other categories as well, although each of these reports concerns a separate product category and does not directly confirm the others.
