Award ceremony for the winners and growth in the number of participants

On October 30, an award ceremony was held for the winners of the fifth Zakovat-Gambit chess tournament. The head of the presidential administration, Saida Mirziyoyeva, took part in it, as she reported on her Telegram channel (the post is quoted by Kun.uz). According to her, this year the tournament brought together about 6,000 participants — twice as many as last year; 633 of the participants were women and girls. The same figures are cited by Zamon.uz.

Assessment of the project's results

Commenting on the results, Mirziyoyeva noted that the growth in the number of participants indicates a growing interest in intellectual competitions and the strengthening of young people's confidence in their own abilities. In her view, the country's intellectual potential is determined not only by the achievements of talented individuals but also by the breadth of opportunities for unlocking every person's abilities. She also pointed out that Uzbekistan is achieving notable results on the international chess stage, but it is no less important to foster an environment in which everyone can fully realize their intellectual potential.

Emphasis on thinking, not just knowledge

Mirziyoyeva sees the special significance of the Zakovat project in the fact that it not only identifies talented young people but also fosters a culture of thinking, skills of independent reasoning, and sound decision-making. The country's future, in her words, depends on the younger generation not only in terms of their level of knowledge but also in their ability to apply it in practice and the breadth of their thinking.
