Accident in the Karabudakhkent district
On October 31, in the Karabudakhkent district of Dagestan, an excavator carrying out excavation work damaged an underground high-pressure steel gas pipeline of category 2 with a diameter of 320 mm. According to the regional Ministry of Energy, the report of the accident came in at 13:40 (local time, matching Moscow time), and the damage was recorded 70–80 meters from the Dorgeli — Exit 1 gas distribution station. This was reported by the ministry's press service on its Telegram channel and Life.ru.
Who was affected by the shutdown
Gas supply was cut off to six populated localities: Dorgeli, Paraul, Geli, Kakashura and Kakamakhi were left completely without gas, while in the village of Chankurbe the supply was partially stopped. Emergency repair work is underway at the site; the published reports did not specify when consumers would be reconnected.
Context
This is not the first such accident in the republic in recent months: as Life.ru previously reported, in June, due to a loss of pressure seal on the Mozdok — Kazimagomed main gas pipeline three explosions occurred in Dagestan and a fire broke out; 40 populated localities were temporarily left without gas, and specialists needed three days to repair the damaged section and reconnect consumers. In addition, an explosion was earlier reported on the underground Central Asia — Center gas pipeline in the Penza region. Sources do not report details of the current incident in the Karabudakhkent district — the reasons for the excavation work, or any victims, if there were any.
