Vance promised to look into the UFO issue
US Vice President JD Vance said on Fox News that he intends to look into the issue of unidentified flying objects and paranormal phenomena, using his access to top secret information. This was reported by Gazeta.Ru.
Motivation and expectations from the review
The politician explained his interest by his religious beliefs: he called himself a committed Christian and said he believes in the existence of 'good spirits, you can call them angels' and 'bad spirits,' as well as in the fact that not everything can be explained solely by the laws of physics. 'I've talked about the UFO program, that I just don't know [everything], and I've started looking into it. I intend to use my access to top secret information to get to the bottom of this,' the outlet quoted him as saying. Vance added that the result could be 'either a good answer or a terrible answer.'
Context: previous reports about UFOs
The vice president's statement came against the backdrop of other publications on the topic. American astronaut Brian Binney previously said he had remained silent for years about a UFO encounter: according to him, early one morning in December 2003, two bright lights approached the window of his home in California and moved toward his body, as if studying it, but 'found nothing interesting.' Binney emphasized that he had not seen any such flashes of light either before or after that incident. In addition, the Pentagon previously declassified more than 160 UFO files. At the same time, Vance's statement remains a declaration of intent: the publication does not report any specific timeline for the review or which documents exactly he will examine.
