  • The winter of 2026–2027 in Novosibirsk is expected to be anomalously snowy, without severe frosts

A snowy but not frosty winter

According to climatologist Alexey Nepomnyashchikh, the winter of 2026–2027 in Novosibirsk will be anomalously snowy: precipitation will significantly exceed the climatic norm with an almost complete absence of severe frosts. He stated this to the outlet Sib.fm, as reported by Gazeta.Ru.

The cause — 'diving' cyclones

According to Nepomnyashchikh, cyclones will arrive in the Novosibirsk region from the northwest — the so-called 'diving' cyclones, which will bring warming and snowfalls in November–December. He named the main feature of the season not frost, but an anomalous amount of snow. In his assessment, the coldest phase of winter may begin no earlier than January.

Separately: the first snow in Moscow

This is a separate forecast for a different region: leading specialist of the Phobos weather center Mikhail Leus previously said, that the first snow in Moscow may fall as early as November 3–4, and after November 5–6, pockets of temporary snow cover may appear in some areas. During the day in early November, temperatures of +3 to +8 °C are expected, in the second half of the ten-day period — no higher than 0…+5 °C, at night — around zero, and from the second five-day period of November — the usual frosts.
