The scale of the night attack

The overnight drone attack on Moscow on October 30 turned out to be one of the largest of the past two years. According to figures cited by Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, from 8:30 pm on October 29 until 7:30 am the next day, 862 UAVs were heading toward the Moscow region — the air attack lasted 11 hours. “Most of them were destroyed by the Defense Ministry’s air defenses at distant lines, and 170 drones were neutralized on approach to Moscow,” Sobyanin wrote in the Max messenger, as quoted by Life.ru.

Comparison with previous raids

The figures cited by Sobyanin make it possible to compare the attack with previous ones. The largest raid previously reported was the night of September 19–20, when more than 1,600 drones headed toward the capital, of which 450 were intercepted at close approaches. In addition, 630 drones were reported on the night of October 22, about 600 in mid-August, and 548 in early September. For comparison: on March 11, 2025, the mayor spoke of 74 drones shot down near Moscow and hundreds destroyed at other lines.

Second massive attack in a row

The October 30 attack was the second major one in a row: the day before, Life.ru reported one of the largest UAV attacks on the Moscow region since the beginning of 2026 — from the evening of October 28 until the morning of October 29, 613 drones headed toward the capital, of which 231 were destroyed directly on approach to the city, while most of the rest were intercepted at distant lines. Thus, over two days, according to official figures, nearly 1,500 drones in total flew toward Moscow. No casualties or damage are reported in the publications.
