The verdict and the charges

The Pacific Fleet Military Court sentenced a 61-year-old resident of Ussuriysk to 23 years in prison, the Primorsky Krai prosecutor's office reported. The man was found guilty of high treason, public calls for terrorist activity, and calls for actions directed against the security of Russia.

What he was charged with

According to the investigation, confirmed by the court, in September 2022 the man used a messenger app to call for setting fire to military enlistment offices and for providing financial assistance to Ukraine for activities against the security of Russia. Later, from March to July 2023, he organized the purchase and shipment of an off-road vehicle for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The punishment and restrictions

The convict will spend the first four years of his sentence in prison and the remaining 19 years in a strict-regime colony. After his release, he will remain under freedom restrictions for two years, and for three years he will be banned from publicly posting appeals and other materials online. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.

A similar case in the region

Life.ru also recalls another case in Primorye: an 18-year-old resident of Spassk-Dalny came under investigation for cooperating with Ukrainian military intelligence — for money, he passed information about the region's fuel and energy facilities to one of its representatives. He has been charged with high treason and faces up to life imprisonment. The suspect is in custody and, according to the FSB, has admitted guilt and is cooperating with the investigation.
