According to the Daraa Health Directorate, seven people were killed, including an elderly man and three children, and four more were wounded.
The parties' positions and the investigation
The Syrian ministry said contacts with Jordan continue: the sides are clarifying the circumstances of the operation and addressing its consequences, taking into account Syria's security and sovereignty. Earlier, the Syrian government announced an investigation and support measures for those affected, stressing the need for joint coordination of operations affecting border areas.
Amman's justification and the attack in Karak
The Jordanian army said on Monday that its air force had struck targets of 'terrorist organizations' in southern Syria, linking them to Friday's attack on mourners gathered at a funeral procession near the Hamud Church in Karak province in southern Jordan, in which nine people were killed. According to the army, the strikes resulted in killed and wounded among members of the groups, as well as the destruction of facilities and vehicles. However, the army did not name the organizations, did not specify the strike locations, and provided no casualty figures. The same day, Jordanian security forces, following a shootout in Karak, detained three suspects in the attack on the church; all three are wounded, and no security personnel were harmed, the Jordanian Public Security Directorate said.
