The key facts
- Daylight in Moscow will shrink by 382 minutes over the autumn — from 13:52 in early September to 7:30 by November 30.
- The calculation was prepared by the Moscow Planetarium.
- The reduction is explained by the natural seasonal change in the Sun's position.
Daylight hours in Moscow will shrink by almost half by the end of autumn
Over the three autumn months, the length of daylight in Moscow will decrease by 6 hours 22 minutes, or 382 minutes. This calculation was prepared by the Moscow Planetarium, as reported by Life.ru citing RIA Novosti.
What exactly the planetarium calculated
According to the specialists, at the beginning of September daylight in the capital lasted 13 hours 52 minutes, and by November 30 it will shrink to 7 hours 30 minutes. The planetarium emphasized that this is a natural seasonal process: in autumn the Sun rises later and sets earlier, so the hours of darkness gradually become longer.
Context: possible mobile internet restrictions
Earlier, the same outlet reported that from October 27 to 29, mobile internet service in central Moscow may be temporarily restricted. According to that publication, the restrictions would have covered the area within the Third Ring Road and would have been linked to major international events; voice calls, home internet and Wi-Fi were expected to work as usual. This is a separate report about possible measures, not a confirmed decision, and it has no connection to the planetarium's calculations.
