A series of strikes in southern districts of Lebanon

Israeli forces continued violating the ceasefire regime in southern Lebanon on Monday: a drone attacked a residential house, artillery shelled several districts, an airstrike was carried out and explosive devices were detonated. This was reported by the Lebanese state agency NNA citing a publication by Anadolu.

What happened on the ground

A drone dropped two bombs on a house between the towns of Shukein and Maifadun in the Nabatieh district; no casualties were reported. Israeli artillery periodically shelled the al-Sawwan area on the outskirts of Maifadun, and also struck Mansouri in the Tyre district. In the al-Ruwais quarter of the village of Zawtar al-Sharqiya, Israeli forces carried out two large explosions — the agency provided no details. An airstrike hit the vicinity of Kantara in the Wadi al-Saluqi area of Marjayoun.

Man injured in explosion of a suspicious object

Separately, NNA reported a man collecting scrap metal who was wounded in the explosion of a suspicious object at the Deir Kifa junction in the Tyre district. His condition has not been disclosed.

Context of the agreement and its violations

The agreement reached on June 26 between Lebanon and Israel through US mediation provides for a phased withdrawal of Israeli troops from occupied Lebanese territory in exchange for the deployment of the Lebanese army and the disarmament of armed groups. Despite the agreement, Israeli attacks continue: according to NNA, since March 2 at least 4,386 people have been killed and 12,407 wounded, and more than a million people have been forced to leave their homes. Israel maintains its presence in southern Lebanon — in territories it has held for decades and those captured during the 2023–2024 war; in the most recent conflict its forces advanced roughly 10 kilometers deep into Lebanese territory.
