What Apple announced
In late October, Apple updated three devices at once: on October 27 it released the 14-inch MacBook Pro and an iMac on the new M6 chip, and a day earlier — the iPad mini with an OLED display and the A20 Pro chip, as Spot.uz previously reported. The computers were announced a day before the company's 'Pro and Tell' event scheduled for Wednesday. Both computers run macOS 27; pre-orders are open from October 28, with general sales starting November 6.
MacBook Pro: specs and prices
According to TechCrunch, the new laptop features the M6 chip with a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU: Apple claims the graphics are 30% faster than the M5, AI tasks are 25% faster, and the speed of processing requests to large language models is 13 times higher than the M1 MacBook Pro. The battery lasts up to 24 hours, with fast charging up to 50% in 30 minutes using a powerful adapter. Base memory is 16 GB (option up to 32 GB), and memory bandwidth increased from 153 to 170 GB/s. There are three Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI, MagSafe 3, an SDXC card slot and a headphone jack; Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 are supported. Spot.uz adds display details: a 14-inch Liquid Retina XDR with brightness up to 1600 nits, memory configurations of 16/24/32 GB and SSD options of 1, 2 or 4 TB. The starting price is $1999, in space black and silver.
iMac: specs and prices
The iMac all-in-one comes with a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display with 500 nits of brightness and True Tone. The base model uses a 10-core CPU and GPU, the higher-end one a 12-core; both variants include neural accelerators and a dual 16-core Neural Engine. Apple says the graphics are twice as fast as the M4 iMac, and local AI tasks run 5 times faster. The package includes a 12 MP camera with Center Stage, three microphones and six speakers. The base model has two Thunderbolt 4 ports, the higher-end one four Thunderbolt ports and 2.5 Gb/s Ethernet. 16–32 GB of unified memory and SSDs up to 2 TB are available, in seven case colors. Prices: from $1499 for the base model and from $1699 for the higher-end one — the second figure is cited by Spot.uz, whereas TechCrunch lists only the base price.
