Vladivostok city administration has a new head

Deputy mayor Dmitry Svitailo has been appointed acting head of Vladivostok, the city administration's press service told TASS. According to Life.ru, Svitailo has worked at city hall since July 2021. Before joining the city administration, he handled fire safety and civil defense matters at a specialized agency of Primorsky Krai, and earlier served in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Emergency Ministry. As deputy head of Vladivostok, he oversaw public security and cooperation with government bodies.

The appointment is linked to changes in the region's leadership

The change in the city's leadership followed a personnel decision at the regional level: On October 22, Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed Vladivostok mayor Konstantin Shestakov as acting governor of Primorsky Krai, Life.ru reports. Shestakov replaced Oleg Kozhemyako, who moved to the federal government. The new regional leader previously headed Vladivostok himself. He is 44 years old, was born in the capital of Primorye, and has experience working in both municipal and regional government bodies.

Context

Thus, within just a few days, the leadership of both Primorye and Vladivostok was renewed at the same time: the former city mayor took over the krai as acting governor, while his former deputy took charge of the city administration as acting head. Sources do not say who might permanently head Vladivostok or when such decisions will be made — these questions remain open for now.
