'Bunkers' and prevented sales
According to the company, 471 'bunkers' specializing in the illegal sale of liquefied gas were identified and shut down during the reporting period. Materials on 25 episodes were sent to law enforcement agencies for legal assessment, and on that basis 19 criminal cases were opened. The company states that inspections and raids continue, the causes of the identified shortcomings are being studied, and measures are being taken to prevent similar cases from recurring.
Context: Tax Committee raids and upcoming price changes
Gazeta.uz recalls related facts: according to the outlet, on October 19–21, during raids by the Tax Committee, more than 3,000 cylinders containing 13.6 tonnes of liquefied gas were seized, which were intended for the population of non-gasified districts but were being resold at inflated prices; in dozens of cases, the involvement of gas service employees was also established. In addition, by presidential decision, from November 1 gas purchases for the population will be moved to the exchange through the LPG-Trade operator, and in Andijan private companies have been allowed to sell gas at free prices. The outlet also reports a proposal to raise the price of liquefied gas for the population from 2,000 to 5,000 soums per kilogram , with compensation for needy families of 3,000 soums per kilogram within a limit of 20 kg per month; the government explains this by declining domestic production, growing imports and insufficient supplies.
Why it matters
According to the company, more than 3.73 million households in the republic are supplied with liquefied gas , as well as about 2,000 social sector facilities, so theft and illegal resale directly affect citizens' household supply. In practice, the company asks to report illegal gas sales by phone at +998 71 202-11-04 or 1104, to info@hududgaz.uz and antikorruptsiya@hududgaz.uz, or via the Telegram bot @hgt_antikor_bot.
