  • President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh compared Minsk to «a paradise on earth», noting the climate, nature, and infrastructure
  • The visit began on October 24 and will last three days; the main talks with Lukashenko are scheduled for October 26
  • Earlier, Lukashenko appointed Mikalai Orda as ambassador to Mongolia — the decree was signed on April 9, 2026

Khurelsukh praised Minsk highly

President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh shared his impressions of the Belarusian capital during an informal meeting with Alexander Lukashenko, reports BelTA. According to him, although he makes state visits to various countries, getting to know Minsk turned out to be «a completely different world»: unlike other capitals, it seemed to him «a paradise on earth». The Mongolian leader separately noted the climate, nature, infrastructure, and the country as a whole.

Visit schedule

Khurelsukh arrived in Belarus on October 24 for a three-day official visit. The very next day, October 25, an informal meeting with Lukashenko took place, at which the Mongolian president spoke about his impressions. The main part of the talks between the heads of state is scheduled for Monday, October 26.

Context of bilateral relations

Earlier, Life.ru reported that Lukashenko appointed Mikalai Orda as Belarus's ambassador to Mongolia — the relevant decree was signed on April 9, 2026. The Belarusian leader admitted that he was surprised by the diplomat's agreement to take the post, but it then turned out that Orda was well acquainted with Mongolia. Lukashenko also noted the high level of relations between Minsk and Ulaanbaatar, gave a positive assessment of Khurelsukh, calling him an open and sensible person, and emphasized the need to develop practical cooperation with the Mongolian side more actively.

Significance of the visit

Warm personal assessments in diplomacy usually precede the substantive part of the talks, and in this case it is still ahead — on October 26. The outcomes of Monday's meetings will determine exactly what will back up the statements about the «high level of relations» between Minsk and Ulaanbaatarthat Lukashenko spoke of when appointing the ambassador. So far, no specific agreements from the visit have been disclosed, so practical results can only be judged after the main part of the talks.
