Storms Aurore and Belo left tens of thousands of homes without power
About 59,000 homes remained without electricity in western France as of Sunday noon after the passage of storms Aurore and Belo, broadcaster BFMTV reports. According to the electricity distributor Enedis, 27,500 customers in Brittany and 14,700 in Normandy were left without power. The company said its staff had been mobilized to carry out repair work. At the peak of the bad weather, according to the electricity supplier, outages affected about 288,600 homes.
Scale of the consequences
The figures cited show that by the time of publication the power company had restored supply to a significant portion of the affected customers: the number of homes without power fell from nearly 289,000 at the storm's peak to 59,000. At the same time, restoration is proceeding unevenly — most of the customers still without power are concentrated in Brittany and Normandy, that is, in the regions directly hit by the storms. The sources do not report any injuries or infrastructure damage, so the full scale of the storms' consequences remains unknown for now.
