The key facts
- At least three killed and 16 injured in Ukrainian attacks on Russian regions, according to Russian authorities
- At least four killed and 32 injured in Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian side
- Russia claims 532 drones intercepted over 25 regions overnight; neither side's claims independently confirmed
Casualties on both sides of the border
According to officials from both countries, the overnight strikes caused casualties on both sides. In Russia, according to the authorities, at least three people were killed and 16 injured. In the Bryansk region, two people were killed and two critically injured when a drone struck a minibus belonging to an agricultural enterprise in the village of Borshchyovo, regional head Yegor Kovalchuk said. In Belgorod, one person was killed and 14 injured in a large-scale overnight drone attack, Governor Alexander Shuvayev said on the Max social network.
Strikes on Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Telegram that in the shelling of the Dnipropetrovsk region the previous evening, four people were killed and 22 injured. Earlier, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported ten people injured, including three rescuers, in strikes on Kharkiv and Vinnytsia; six more people were injured in a strike on a five-story residential building in Vinnytsia. According to the service, the strikes caused fires, and rescue crews came under renewed shelling while working; a fire tanker was completely destroyed.
Claims by both sides and the scale of the attacks
Zelensky said that over the past week Russia used about 1,600 guided aerial bombs, 48 missiles of various types, including ballistic ones, and nearly 2,300 attack drones.
Moscow's position
Russia's Defense Ministry said its forces continued overnight strikes on logistics centers, Ukraine's port infrastructure, and ships carrying supplies for Ukrainian forces. According to the ministry, in Kharkiv the Epicentr logistics center, a distribution center, and the Vasilchevo logistics terminal were hit, where military or dual-use goods were stored. It also claimed a cargo ship carrying supplies for Ukrainian forces was hit while sailing by sea to the port of Chornomorsk. Russian air defense, according to the ministry, intercepted and destroyed 532 Ukrainian drones of the airplane type over 25 regions overnight. The claims of both sides cannot be independently verified.
Why it matters
The exchange of mutual accusations and the rising death toll show that the intensity of the strikes persists against the backdrop of ongoing talks that Zelensky mentioned. For residents of border and frontline regions — from Belgorod and Bryansk to Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, and Vinnytsia — this means continued risks to civilians and emergency services. In practical terms, the outcome depends on deliveries of Patriot interceptors and air support, which the Ukrainian side has officially requested; meanwhile, all casualty figures remain impossible to verify.
