Cabinet of Ministers Resolution
On October 19, the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan approved resolution No. 576 on measures for transitioning to a compact pension assignment system; the document was published on Lex.uz. From 2027, the work of district and city branches of the Pension Fund is planned to be transferred to a digital format through the introduction of a compact management system.
Pilot Project in Four Regions
From October to December 2026, the new approach will be tested in selected parts of four regions: in Andijan region — the city of Andijan and Oltinkul district; in Samarkand region — the city of Samarkand; in Khorezm region — Urgench and Khiva; in Syrdarya region — all district and city branches. Under the experiment, tasks of assigning pensions and benefits, paying them, recalculating them and changing the type of pension are transferred to the regional administrations of the Pension Fund. In each participating district and city, commissions for assigning and paying pensions of three members will be created, and staff providing services to citizens will remain in local branches.
Timelines and Scaling Up
By October 25, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, together with the Pension Fund, must approve the staffing levels of the regional administrations, their tasks and areas of work. By December 15, based on an analysis of the pilot results, a draft document is planned to be prepared on introducing the new system nationwide from 2027.
Confirming Pension Entitlement from Abroad
The resolution also provides for the possibility for pensioners located abroad to confirm their entitlement to a pension online — identification will be carried out through the MyID system.
