Rostec: AI in the Tsitadel Air Defense System Achieved Target Destruction with 99% Probability

State corporation Rostec reported that the introduction of artificial intelligence into the fire control system of the Tsitadel anti-aircraft missile system has raised the probability of target destruction to 99%. The system 'learns' during combat, correcting misses, and is capable of destroying FPV drones, heavy unmanned aerial vehicles, and cruise missiles.

Rostec: AI in the Tsitadel Air Defense System Achieved Target Destruction with 99% Probability

The key facts

  • AI in the fire control system of the Tsitadel air defense system ensures target destruction with a 99% probability — data from Rostec
  • The system analyzes misses and corrects the next shot; target recognition takes seconds
  • The system destroys FPV drones, heavy UAVs, and cruise missiles, and is already being used to protect important facilities

Rostec Reported a 99% Probability of Destruction

The introduction of artificial intelligence into the fire control system of the Tsitadel anti-aircraft missile system has ensured target destruction with a 99% probability, the state corporation Rostec reported. According to the corporation, the system needs only seconds to recognize a target and calculate the trajectory.

The System 'Learns' During Combat

Rostec explained that Tsitadel 'learns' during combat: if the first shell fails to hit the target, the system analyzes the error and corrects the next shot.

Capabilities and Use

The air defense system can destroy both small FPV drones and heavy fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles, and even cruise missiles. The system is capable of operating both autonomously and as part of a layered air defense system. Rostec added that Tsitadel is already being used to protect important facilities.

Previously Reported

Earlier, Rostec said that, compared with conventional anti-aircraft guns, Tsitadel uses less ammunition per target. According to the corporation, the anti-aircraft artillery system is capable of combating various types of drones using 'smart' shells and has already proven its characteristics in combat conditions. It was also previously reported that the newest system was presented for the first time in Egypt.
