The key facts
- The NAS sent Mikhail Mishustin a request to make car reports free
- The data is currently sold by the American Solera through the Audatex service
- The union proposes publishing the information on the websites of the RSA and the MVD
Appeal to the Prime Minister
The National Automobile Union (NAS) sent Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin a request to make car reports publicly accessible and free. This was reported by the Telegram channel Mash. In the union's view, such information is important for the future owner and should be open.
Who currently sells the data
According to Mash, data on Russian cars is currently sold by the American company Solera, headquartered in Texas, through the Audatex service, receiving the information from Russian insurers. The NAS considers this situation unfair.
The union's proposal
NAS Vice President Anton Shaparin proposed obliging insurers to publish the information on the websites of the Russian Union of Auto Insurers (RSA) and the MVD instead of transferring it to a foreign service. According to him, this would whiten the used car market, make purchases more transparent, and reduce the risk of buying a problematic vehicle.
Context
Earlier, Anton Shaparin criticized the experimental colored road markings introduced on General Dorokhov Prospekt in Moscow.
