Official notification of the termination of the visa-free regime

Montenegro has officially notified Russia of the termination of the visa-free regime from November 1. This was reported by the Russian Ambassador to the republic, Aleksandr Lukashik, in an interview with TASS. According to the diplomat, from the specified date the intergovernmental agreement on the conditions of mutual travel of citizens, signed on September 24, 2008, will cease to be in effect.

Entry conditions for Russians

“From the specified date, entry into the territory of Montenegro for Russians will be carried out if they have a visa of Montenegro, as well as of a whole number of other countries, including the Schengen states,” Lukashik noted. Thus, a Montenegrin visa specifically will not necessarily be required for the trip: the ambassador confirmed the possibility of entry with visas of a number of other states. The full list and the conditions of their use are not specified in the cited statement.

Moscow's reciprocal measures

Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, reported Moscow's intention to take reciprocal visa measures for citizens of Montenegro. The timing of the introduction of Russian restrictions and the procedure for processing documents were not named at that time.
