The key facts

  • Solar and wind plants generated 10.5 billion kWh, and hydropower plants 6.6 billion kWh over nine months — both figures exceed the totals for all of 2025.
  • In total, 69.6 billion kWh was produced in January–September (+8.4%), while consumption reached 68.1 billion kWh (+6.3%).
  • By the end of the year, 94.6 billion kWh is planned to be produced and 92.2 billion kWh consumed.

Green generation exceeded last year's totals

In January–September 2026, Uzbekistan's large solar and wind power plants generated 10.5 billion kWh of electricity, while hydropower plants generated 6.6 billion kWh. Both figures exceeded the output volumes for all of 2025, the press service of the Ministry of Energy reported.

Total output grew by 8.4%

In total, 69.6 billion kWh of electricity was produced in the country over nine months — 5.4 billion kWh, or 8.4%, more than in the same period last year. Thermal power plants accounted for 49.1 billion kWh. Output from small-capacity solar panels reached 2.5 billion kWh, compared to 2 billion kWh for all of last year. Another 867.1 million kWh was produced by block stations.

Consumption grew by 6.3%

Electricity consumption in January–September amounted to 68.1 billion kWh, an increase of 4.1 billion kWh, or 6.3%, compared to the same period of 2025. Consumers were supplied with 53 billion kWh, including 39 billion kWh to wholesale consumers and 14 billion kWh to the population. In the consumption structure of wholesale consumers, industrial enterprises accounted for 20.6 billion kWh, agriculture for 5.6 billion kWh, and other consumers for 12.8 billion kWh.

Plans until the end of the year

By the end of the year, Uzbekistan plans to produce 94.6 billion kWh of electricity — 8.8% more than in 2025. Consumption is expected to reach 92.2 billion kWh, an increase of 6.3% compared to last year (according to the ministry — a growth of 6.6%). Earlier, Spot reported on an emergency power outage in three districts of Tashkent.
