She named turning to specialists as the safe option: cryodestruction, radio wave therapy, and electrocoagulation.

The key facts

  • Warts are a manifestation of a viral infection transmitted through contact and household routes
  • Home methods can cause bleeding, suppuration, and blood poisoning
  • In pediatric practice, the main method is cryodestruction with liquid nitrogen

Doctor warns against folk methods

Attempting to get rid of warts on your own using alternative medicine can lead to serious complications. This was reported by Olga Avdeykina, a dermatologist at the children's clinic 'Bud Zdorov' (Be Healthy), in an interview with RIAMO. According to her, warts are a manifestation of a viral infection that is transmitted through contact and household routes. The growths can appear on different parts of the body, but most often affect the hands, feet, elbows, knees, and face, varying in shape and size.

Why home remedies are dangerous

The dermatologist strongly discourages common household methods: applying onion or potato, applying celandine juice, treating with nail polish, as well as attempts to cut off the growth with scissors and nippers. Avdeykina explained that warts are permeated with blood vessels, so injuring them is fraught with severe bleeding, bacteria entering, the development of suppuration, and subsequent blood poisoning.

How they are treated in clinics

The doctor named turning to specialists as the safest and most effective solution. In pediatric practice, the main treatment method remains cryodestruction — burning off with liquid nitrogen. In addition, medical centers use radio wave therapy and electrocoagulation using local anesthesia. Earlier, the outlet notes, a cosmetologist warned about dangerous beauty trends from social media.
