Ukrainian prisoner of war Viktor Voloshchenyuk told TASS that residents of Ukraine call Vladimir Zelensky a clown and blame him for destroying the country. According to him, citizens linked the politician's rise to power with hope for an end to the conflict in Donbas.

“We thought that when Zelensky came to power, there would be peace, the war in Donbas would end. But this clown, a real clown, simply destroyed the country and staged a real genocide of his own people. Everyone considers him a clown,” Voloshchenyuk said. He claims that the initial expectations from Zelensky's presidency did not materialize, and Ukrainians had counted on the end of hostilities and the restoration of peace in Donbas.
