Vance refrains from endorsement

US Vice President JD Vance said on Monday that he would not take a position on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's reelection campaign, distancing himself from Israeli electoral politics. This came after President Donald Trump publicly endorsed Netanyahu over the weekend. In an interview with Mark Halperin on 2WAY Tonight, Vance was asked whether he supports Netanyahu. 'The president has the most effective endorsement in American or international political history. I support American candidates, and that's what I'm focused on with the midterms, so I'm not getting involved in the Israeli elections,' Vance replied. He added: 'I'm not against endorsing him. I'm not for endorsing him. I'm not getting involved in the Israeli elections.'

Trump's endorsement

On Sunday, Trump announced his support for Netanyahu ahead of Israel's October 27 elections, declaring his 'Complete and Total Endorsement' of the longtime leader in his fight for reelection. In an extensive post on the Truth Social platform, he praised Netanyahu's leadership and his partnership with Washington, especially in confronting Iran, warning that the US might be forced to take the burden upon itself if Israelis choose a different leader.
