Conflict near the Brasserie Park restaurant

The incident occurred on October 17 in front of the Brasserie Park restaurant on Islam Karimov Street in the Mirabad district of Tashkent. A video circulated on social media shows restaurant employee S.R. stopping 17-year-old courier M.Ya., who was riding a scooter, swearing at him obscenely and threatening to beat him. The courier explained that he had arrived via the route shown by his navigator. According to the Russian version of Daryo.uz, the young man was trying to ride along a pedestrian path that, the outlet claims, the restaurant had unlawfully annexed to its territory. UzNews.uz clarifies that the courier rode through an extension with tables on the sidewalk near TsUM.

Court decision

In court, S.R. partially admitted his guilt. According to him, at around 15:30 an unfamiliar scooter rider drove into the area where restaurant guests were seated; he tried to explain that passage there was prohibited, a conflict arose, and in a fit of anger he swore at the courier. The man expressed regret over what he had done. By a decision of the Mirabad district criminal court, S.R. was found guilty of an offense under Article 183 of the Administrative Liability Code (petty hooliganism) and sentenced to 5 days of administrative arrest. The Daryo editorial team reviewed the court document.

Dismantling of the summer terrace

According to the press service of the Tashkent city administration, after the incident the legality of the restaurant's summer terrace location in the 'Blue Domes' alley was inspected. Violations of requirements for the use of the territory were identified, including those concerning unobstructed pedestrian movement. After that, the path was cleared of the restaurant's tables and chairs, and the extension was dismantled.

The restaurant's position

The restaurant's administration stated that the path is open to pedestrians, people with strollers, and persons with limited mobility, but staff ask people not to ride motorcycles and mopeds there. The administration said it is studying the circumstances of the conflict and surveillance camera footage, and that rudeness and threats from employees are unacceptable. Later, the person involved in the conflict apologized to the courier and expressed remorse.
