Appeal Granted
Former Deputy Governor of Krasnodar Krai Andrei Korobka has been released from custody. As reported by the joint press service of the region's courts, the Krasnodar Regional Court granted an appeal against the ruling of the Oktyabrsky District Court of Krasnodar, which had extended Korobka's detention period, and changed the lower court's decision. 'The preventive measure has been changed from detention to a promise not to leave and to behave properly. Korobka has been released from custody immediately,' the press service said in a statement.
The Essence of the Charges
Korobka is a defendant under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code — fraud on an especially large scale. According to investigators, while serving as deputy governor, he offered a developer, for a reward, assistance in changing the designated use of a land plot in the Dinskoy district for subsequent housing construction. According to law enforcement, in January 2026, 15 million rubles were transferred to the account of an organization under his control, but the promised actions were not carried out.
What Is Important to Know
Korobka was arrested in April 2026 — at that time the court ordered his detention for two months. The change of the preventive measure does not mean the criminal case has been dismissed or the charges dropped: the court has not yet ruled on the merits of the charges brought. The former official will now remain free on condition of complying with the promise not to leave and to behave properly.
