New Agreements under the American Manufacturing Program
Apple announced on Tuesday new and expanded partnerships with American manufacturers to supply key materials and components for the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro. The agreements with titanium manufacturer Perryman Company from Pennsylvania and Delaware-based Qnity Electronics are part of the American Manufacturing Program, according to the company's statement.
Titanium for the First Foldable iPhone
Apple has committed to invest up to $100 million over three years in Perryman Company, which will supply titanium for products including the iPhone Duo — Apple's first foldable iPhone. Perryman will use at least 80% recycled material in the titanium for the device's body.
Films for the iPhone 18 Pro Camera
Apple is also expanding its partnership with Qnity Electronics to produce advanced films in the US for the variable aperture camera system of the iPhone 18 Pro. The technology, used in the 48-megapixel Fusion main camera, automatically adjusts the amount of light entering the camera: it lets in more light in dark conditions and helps capture sharper details in bright lighting.
American Components and Suppliers
According to Apple, nearly 100 components in the two new iPhone models are made by American companies, with suppliers operating in more than a dozen states. Among the partners are Broadcom, Corning, Coherent, TSMC and Amkor Technology. By the end of 2026, Corning's plant in Kentucky is expected to produce all the protective glass for iPhones and Apple Watches sold worldwide. TSMC's fab in Arizona is expected to produce more than 100 million chips for Apple this year.
Scale of the Program
Apple stated that it works with suppliers in all 50 US states and supports more than 450,000 jobs in the country. The partnerships are part of the company's four-year $600 billion commitment to American manufacturing and innovation, aimed at expanding domestic production of advanced materials and critical components.
