The key facts

  • Zelensky: Ukraine received no early warning ahead of the overnight wave of Russian ballistic missile strikes
  • Speed restrictions on Starlink and Starshield remain in frontline areas; no explanation from the US
  • Tillis: Zelensky also raised the issue of delays in air defense interceptor deliveries

Talks with senators

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Monday that he held talks with US Senators Richard Blumenthal and Thom Tillis. The topics of discussion were intelligence sharing and the operation of Starlink in Ukraine, the Anadolu agency reported.

Claims against the US

On the social network X, Zelensky stated that Ukraine did not receive early warning from partners ahead of the overnight first wave of Russian strikes with ballistic missiles. According to him, speed restrictions on the Starlink and Starshield services remain in place in various frontline areas. “On none of these issues has the American side provided Ukraine with an explanation,” he said.

Tillis's position

Senator Thom Tillis separately reported that Zelensky also raised the issue of delays in the delivery of air defense interceptors. “The degradation of Ukraine's satellite communications, the weakening of its air defenses, and the easing of sanctions against Russia only embolden Putin and prolong this war,” he wrote on X.

Energy and sanctions

Tillis added that Zelensky once again expressed readiness to halt strikes on Russian energy facilities if Russian President Vladimir Putin agrees to a similar step. According to the senator, Congress remains committed to supporting Ukraine and its European allies through sanctions against those who facilitate Russia's war, and to efforts to achieve a lasting peace.
