Health Ministry denies reports of a measles outbreak

The press service of the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan commented on reports that 290 suspected measles cases had been registered in Tashkent and that more than 10 thousand people who had contact with the sick had been placed under registration. The agency stated that the epidemiological situation regarding measles in Tashkent and across the country is currently stable and that there are 'no grounds for concern'.

The figures from social media are accumulated data over nine months

According to the ministry, the figures circulating on social media are a cumulative indicator for the past nine months of 2026. Therefore, the Health Ministry noted, it is wrong to interpret them as data identified over a short period or reflecting the situation as of today. The Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Well-Being and Public Health asked social media users not to misinterpret the information.

Incidence has decreased by 40%
