Cinema: 'Clayface' and 'Klara and the Sun'

On 23 October the film 'Clayface' opens in cinemas — a new chapter of the DC cinematic universe's 'Gods and Monsters'. It is an origin story of one of Batman's most famous enemies: Tom Rhys Harries plays actor Matt Hagen, who, after a mafia boss disfigures his face, undergoes an experimental reconstructive operation. The screenplay was written by Mike Flanagan, known for his Stephen King adaptations. According to Euronews, the film emphasises body horror: Hagen mutates into a clay-like form, losing touch with reality. Also from 23 October, in most European countries, 'Klara and the Sun' is released — an adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's bestseller by Taika Waititi, in which a sick girl is given a robot companion played by Jenna Ortega.

Exhibitions: science and American history in London, paradise and apocalypse in Munich

From 23 October 2026 to 25 April 2027, the Science Museum in London hosts the exhibition 'Becoming America: How Science Shaped a Nation', dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The exhibition covers four decades of North American history up to the 1790s, when George Washington was elected the first president of the USA, and includes more than a hundred rare exhibits — including a first printing of the Declaration of Independence and a map of the Atlantic Gulf Stream drawn up by Benjamin Franklin. From 21 October to 17 January 2027, Munich's Pinakothek der Moderne hosts 'Searching for Paradise', an exhibition by German artist Connie Mayer — winner of the Deutsche Bank Artist of the Year 2021 prize. Her canvases — from pastel-pink flowers to a blazing forest — create an atmosphere between paradise and apocalypse, referencing medieval art and expressionism. An additional event will be the fifth edition of the Art Basel Paris contemporary art fair, taking place from 23 to 25 October at the Grand Palais.

Series: 'The Terminal List' and 'Nobody Wants This'

On 21 October, the second season of the series 'The Terminal List', based on Jack Carr's popular series of novels, arrives on Prime Video. Chris Pratt plays US Marine James Reece, who takes revenge for the death of his platoon while uncovering dark government secrets. After the murder of his family, grief, anger and a thirst for redemption lead the hero on a worldwide tour of violence in search of answers and justice. As a bonus — the third season of Netflix's comedy 'Nobody Wants This' with Kristen Bell and Adam Brody as a couple facing complex cultural issues — from 22 October.

Music: John Legend and Michael Kiwanuka

On 23 October, American singer and pianist John Legend releases the album 'Muse', created in collaboration with Pharrell Williams. The record, made in Pharrell's studio at Louis Vuitton's Paris headquarters, contains 16 tracks combining gospel, hip-hop and afrobeats, and explores themes of faith, devotion and intimacy through experimental sounds. According to Euronews, the album became a form of reunion and rebirth for the two longtime friends. On the same day, 23 October 2026, 'FUDGE' is released — the fifth album by British singer-songwriter Michael Kiwanuka, described as psychedelic soul.
