Committee begins studying taxi aggregators' prices

The Committee for the Development of Competition and Protection of Consumer Rights of Uzbekistan has begun studying the services offered by taxi aggregators to passengers and drivers, as well as the prices they set. This was reported by the agency's press service on October 15, 2026. The reason was technical malfunctions at major taxi services in recent days: against this backdrop, competing platforms raised prices several times during peak hours, which, according to the committee, caused "justified protests" from the public. During the study, particular attention will be paid to the justification of price increases and compliance with antimonopoly legislation, and the actions of aggregators will be checked for signs of unfair competition.

Requirements for services

The oversight body called on taxi services to revise the settings of their pricing algorithms to prevent sharp and artificial price increases; fix malfunctions preventing drivers from withdrawing funds to their accounts; unblock taxi drivers who were blocked without justification; recalculate all bonuses for completing orders and pay out the funds due; not allow anticompetitive actions by both the business entities themselves and persons acting in their interests; and ensure uninterrupted round-the-clock operation of technical support centers for drivers and consumers.

Possible consequences

If violations of competition legislation or infringement of consumer rights are identified during the study, the committee will conduct an inspection in accordance with the established procedure, following which measures will be applied to violators in accordance with the law. "Any action in the competitive environment must not contradict the interests of consumers. The price and quality of services must be based on fair and transparent principles," the agency's statement emphasizes.

Surge in demand after the Yandex Go outage

After the large-scale Yandex Go outage on October 11–13, demand for other aggregators rose sharply in Tashkent and other cities of Uzbekistan. Uklon recorded a 2–3 times increase in the number of orders compared to average figures for comparable days, and the number of new drivers grew approximately 10 times. MyTaxi, which operates only within Tashkent, reported a 15-fold increase in orders and estimated the share of new users at 20–25% of the growth; the number of taxi drivers on the line tripled — mainly due to already registered drivers.
