England risk missing the Rugby League World Cup semi-finals for the first time after defeat to Tonga (12:30)

England unexpectedly lost 12:30 to Tonga in Perth — their first-ever defeat to the Tongans. Coach Brian McDermott, after his debut match, said the team is 'moving in the right direction', but to reach the semi-finals England now need Tonga to beat Samoa on 1 November, and must themselves beat Papua New Guinea and France by a large points margin.
