Air quality in Tashkent may deteriorate to an unhealthy level in the evening

In Tashkent, air quality is expected to worsen on the evening of October 14. The pollution index may reach 100–150 points, which is considered an unhealthy level for sensitive groups of the population, according to the National Commission on Ecology and Climate Change. The highest concentration of pollutants is forecast between 22:00 and 23:00 in the northern and western parts of the city. The causes may be weak wind and temperature inversion, which cause pollutants to accumulate near the ground. People with respiratory illnesses and other sensitive groups are advised to limit prolonged outdoor stays and intense physical activity.

Greenhouse emissions in Tashkent and the region will be monitored in real time

A special environmental regime for greenhouse farms has been proposed for Tashkent and five adjacent districts. Farms will be required to use cleaner energy sources, with emissions monitored including via drones. The measures were presented to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Burning tires, plastics, bitumen, fuel oil, used oils and waste is prohibited; solid-fuel greenhouses must switch to permitted energy sources by December 1. From October 15, 2026 to March 15, 2027, continuous environmental monitoring is planned, with data transmitted in real time to the National Ecology Committee. Subsidies of up to 50 million soums per hectare and preferential loans of up to 3 billion soums for seven years are proposed. A separate block concerns relocating greenhouses to Surkhandarya region, where 940 hectares have been allocated in the Surkhon-Agro free economic zone, with $100 million in investment targeted for 2027.

Doniyor Yusupov has been appointed deputy khokim of Tashkent and head of the Directorate for the Operation of City Canals and Improvement of Adjacent Territories. Previously, he was deputy khokim of the Yunusabad district for construction, barrier-free environment, communications, ecology and greening. He graduated from the Tashkent Automobile and Road Institute and worked in road construction and repair organizations, as well as in the Yunusabad district khokimiyat, the capital's khokimiyat press service reports.

Cold water will be shut off in 15 mahallas of Uchtepa and 9 mahallas of the Shaykhantahur district

Drinking water supply will be temporarily suspended in the Uchtepa and Shaykhantahur districts of Tashkent from 09:00 on October 14 until 15:00 on October 15 due to repairs of a 300 mm main water pipeline on the section from Ipakchilik street to Faziltepa street. In the Uchtepa district, 15 mahallas will be affected, including Degrez, Bogichinor, Bekabad, Koryogdi, Khondamir, Nishabariq, Sharq Yulduzi, Shofaizbog, Pakhtakor, Kukcha Oktepa, Jurjoni, Abdulla Qodiri, Beshkayragach, Khayratiy and Davlatabad. In the Shaykhantahur district, 9 mahallas will be affected: Kukcha, Zafarobod, Khuvaydo, Buston, Ipakchi, Eski Jarariq, Shofaiz, Uzbekiston and Beltepa. Residents are asked to stock up on drinking water in advance; after the work is completed, water supply should be restored.

A suspect in fraud was detained in Tashkent: he promised a plot for $840,000

In Tashkent, a man born in 1970 was detained for fraud. He promised to arrange documents for developing four hectares out of nine hectares of a non-residential facility in the Bostanlyk district, claiming he could resolve the issue through acquaintances among officials of the Cadastre Agency. He demanded $100,000 first and then another $740,000, totaling $840,000. He was detained in the Yunusabad district while receiving the first $100,000. A criminal case was opened under Part 4 of Article 168 (fraud), as well as Part 3 of Article 28 and Part 3 of Article 211 (bribe-giving).
