Scientists have for the first time fully read the genome of the rice field eel — the first sex-changing fish
The Institute of Hydrobiology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has assembled the rice field eel genome in full, without gaps, from telomere to telomere. The results are published in the journal Scientific Data. The previously published 2018 genome was merely a set of fragments.
